Welcome to Day 11 of 12 Days of Christmas Desserts! At this point, I’m thinking I should have called it “12 Days of Super Easy Desserts” because honestly, they’ve all been incredibly simple!
And this semolina pudding is no exception. It’s ready in about 20 minutes and requires only five ingredients—most of which you likely already have at home!
This dessert is more than just easy, though. It’s incredibly satisfying, bringing back memories of childhood comfort food. The pudding itself is soft and creamy, with a light yet indulgent feel.
And what really takes it to the next level is the freedom to customize the toppings. My personal favorite is a combination of jam and nuts. The jam adds sweetness and tang, while the nuts bring a delightful crunch that elevates the texture. Of course, cinnamon is a classic option as well—there’s no wrong way to top this pudding!
I intentionally kept this recipe slightly less sweet because I love adding jam on top. However, if you prefer to enjoy it plain, feel free to increase the sugar by 10-20 grams. Either way, this dessert will become a favorite for its simplicity, taste, and nostalgia factor.
What makes this Semolina Pudding so great?
This dessert has a soft and creamy texture that feels luxurious yet light. It’s especially popular with kids, but adults love it too—there’s something universally appealing about its comforting flavor. Plus, it’s incredibly easy to make and uses ingredients you likely already have on hand (though you might need to grab some semolina). While it’s perfect for Christmas, this pudding is versatile enough to enjoy year-round.

kcalThis Semolina Pudding is the perfect Christmas dessert: soft, comforting, and made with just five simple ingredients. It’s quick to prepare and endlessly versatile with toppings like cinnamon, nuts, or jam.
Ingredients
500 ml milk (full fat)
50g semolina
40g sugar (use more if you don’t want to use jam)
15g butter
1 tsp vanilla extract
Optional toppings: cinnamon, jam or nuts (or all!)
Directions
- In a small saucepan, heat the milk, sugar, and butter over medium heat until the milk just starts to boil.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually pour in the semolina while continuously whisking to prevent lumps.
- Return the saucepan to medium heat and whisk continuously until the pudding thickens, about 8-10 minutes.
- Remove from heat and transfer the pudding to serving bowls. Let it cool slightly before serving.
- Top with your favorite toppings, such as cinnamon, jam, or nuts. Enjoy!
Notes
- The pudding must thicken properly on the stove before being removed from heat to achieve the best texture.
- For a creamier pudding, you can increase the amount of butter slightly (10g extra should be enough).
