Crustless Asparagus Quiche

Flowers are blooming, trees are blossoming, and asparagus is everywhere! Though I discovered this gorgeous veggie just a couple of years ago, I’ve been wildly obsessed with it ever since I realized how versatile and heathy it is!

Though I usually like my asparagus steamed or baked, this time I decided to go with something I’ve been wanting to make for a really long time. A crustless asparagus quiche!

This quiche is ready in no time and it’s really flavorful and delicious; and bonus you don’t have to worry about the added calories from the crust.

The best part about this recipe is that it’s incredibly easy to make. You simply mix together the ingredients and bake it in the oven until it’s golden brown and set. The lack of crust means you don’t have to worry about fussing with pastry dough, and it also means the quiche is lighter and healthier than traditional quiche recipes.

Why should you make this recipe?

  • It’s a great way to use up any leftover asparagus you may have in your fridge
  • Since this is a crustless quiche, you won’t have to worry about the added calories from the pastry.
  • This recipe uses simple ingredients that you probably already have in your pantry or fridge.
  • This quiche is incredibly versatile and can be served for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
  • It’s a healthier alternative to traditional quiche recipes.

How does this quiche taste?

This crustless asparagus quiche is delicious and packed with flavor. The asparagus adds a fresh and slightly bitter note that complements the rich and creamy texture of the eggs and cheese. It’s the perfect balance of flavors that will leave you feeling satisfied and nourished.

Asparagus – Fresh asparagus is the star of this recipe, adding a slightly bitter and earthy flavor that complements the creamy texture of the cheese and eggs.

Red onion – The onion adds a sweet and slightly sharp flavor to the dish, balancing the bitterness of the asparagus. I chose to go for the milder red onion, but you can sub it for regular onion or spring onion if desired.

Bell pepper – The bell pepper adds a subtle sweetness and crunch to the quiche.

Butter – Butter is used to sauté the vegetables, adding richness and flavor to the dish.

Water – A little bit of water is needed to sauté the asparagus before adding it to the quiche.

Flour – Flour is used to thicken the quiche filling, helping it to set properly in the oven.

Cottage cheese – Cottage cheese adds creaminess and a tangy flavor to the quiche filling, and it’s also a great source of protein.

Mozzarella cheese – This cheese adds a mild and creamy flavor to the quiche, and it also helps to hold the filling together as it bakes. You can also substitute this cheese for goat cheese or feta (or any other type of cheese you love!).

Salt & Pepper – These basic seasonings help to bring out the flavors of the other ingredients and balance the dish.

Tips for recipe success

  • Make sure to steam the asparagus before placing the quiche in the oven to ensure it is thoroughly cooked. If you place it directly in the oven, it won’t cook properly.
  • Feel free to experiment with different types of cheese! Just know that the types of cheese you use will slightly alter the taste of the quiche.
